In honor of Nike's Air Max Day, the iconic brand has partnered with Taiwanese architect and engineer Arthur Huang to build recycled Nike Air Max containers. Made from drink containers and lids, the plastic shoe boxes are designed to interlock with one another to aid in displays.
As the shoe that propelled Nike to the status of athletics juggernaut that it enjoys today, the Air Max is one of the most important sneakers ever made. This makes it an ideal candidate for trying to rethink how shoes get transported and presented in general. By building a lightweight shoe box entirely from recycled materials, Nike is extolling the virtues of focusing on environmental sustainability and responsibility in every aspect of its business — from containers to the shoes themselves.
