The Neotenic Collection Includes Five Handcrafted Lighting Designs

The Neotenic collection is a range of lighting products created collaboratively by British lighting manufacturer Original BTC and design studio Buchanan Studio. The series comprises five distinct pieces: a table light, floor light, wall light, ceiling light, and pendant light. Each design features mouth-blown glass shades crafted using traditional glassblowing techniques, resulting in a marbled surface.
The shades are offered in three colorways: Strawberry, Chocolate, and Vanilla. The glass shades are paired with sculptural bases made from white steel or brass that include a triangular motif and, in some pieces, a tilting connection between shade and base. The glass and metal components are handcrafted in England as part of the production process. The Neotenic collection draws on a partnership initiated through an open design brief and conversations at Original BTC’s Oxfordshire headquarters. The project was presented at Paris Design Week as the first collaboration between the two British makers. Each piece in the collection is finished with a brass cap bearing both brands’ marks.
