Luca Nichetto Presents the Upglas Collection Reusing Murano Glass

— September 7, 2025 — Art & Design
Luca Nichetto introduces the Upglas collection as a creative reimagining of discarded Murano glass, transforming waste into sculptural lighting that blends sustainability with expression. Fragments of mouth-blown glass are ground into powder and mixed with a patented biodegradable resin, producing a malleable paste that can be shaped by hand like dough. Heated at a lower 400 degrees instead of the typical 1,200, each lamp reveals marbled surfaces with a stone-like texture while remaining lightweight and translucent.

Every piece is distinct in color and pattern due to natural variations in recycled glass. The series is offered in two forms and four duo-toned palettes, from green on light gray to red on light gray, creating visual depth with subtle contrast. The Upglas collection merges craft with ecological responsibility, redefining luxury through mindful materials and poetic design.
