The Water Sculpture LJ is a Continuous Stainless Steel Sculpture

— January 14, 2026 — Art & Design
The Water Sculpture LJ is a public art installation designed by M.KOCBEK architects and P PLUS arhitekti and recently completed in the heart of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The sculpture was realized nine years after winning a public design competition, marking the conclusion of a long development and planning process. The work takes the form of a continuous loop fabricated from polished stainless steel and occupies a designated public space in the urban fabric. The loop’s rounded shape creates an open spatial platform that frames views and invites pedestrians to walk through, touch, or interact with the piece as they move around it. The reflective surface responds to changing light and weather conditions, altering appearance throughout the day.

The installation was developed as a spatial intervention intended for active engagement by passers-by. The stainless steel loop stands without enclosing the surrounding environment, and its polished finish incorporates reflections of adjacent buildings, people, and sky. The piece was constructed on site with structural support suitable for outdoor public use, and it adds a distinctive contemporary artwork to Ljubljana’s urban realm.
