Miso Robotics developed a smart AI-powered robot called 'Flippy' that is designed to take care of the task of burger flipping in a restaurant. The bot runs on software that continually improves over time and boasts the ability to collaborate with human chefs working in the kitchen. The bot uses cameras and sensors to "see" the patties being cooked and uses a special arm to capture and flip them as needed for even cooking.
Recently, burger chain CaliBurger announced that it will be introducing this technology to its restaurants as early as 2018.
Robots are becoming increasingly integral to the food service industry, with some standing in as servers and others programmed to take on highly specialized tasks such as preparing soup or salads.
