The contemporary rural retreat is located on the edge of a lake in Excelsior, Minnesota. Unlike the surrounding cottages, the contemporary Minnesota lake house has playful features such as a moat around the front and confetti windows in the loft. The unusual features are complemented by colorful furniture and quirky fixtures that allude to the dynamic personalities of each family member. As the architects explain, "The home is a combination of practical materials such as exposed concrete and steel, but with a playful expression focused on family lake living."
