Mills Junction from Citiq is easily one of the most awesome student residences ever built. Mills Junction is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, and contains 375 apartments, multiple study rooms, a gym, a library and quite a few common areas. What's truly extraordinary is that the structure was actually a series of four abandoned grain silos and a series of unused shipping containers before Citiq got involved.
Windows were cut into the grain silos and the shipping containers were stacked onto the roof and alongside the silos. Mills Junction from Citiq casts an eye toward sustainability, both in its design and energy consumption. Citiq claims to have cut the building's energy construction by 50 percent with its eco-friendly windows, lights and more.
