Welcoming Prefabricated Student Housing

Ignacio Prego Architectures Designs New Student Housing

Parisian design studio Ignacio Prego Architectures creates prefabricated units that come together to form standard student housing. The residences are defined by concrete and wood materials that are constructed to have various facades that are meant to avoid any feelings of repetition in design. It is located in Agen, France for the National School of Penitentiary Administration.

The studio explains how the design process took into consideration how to stand out within the blocks. Ignacio Prego Architecture states, "We worked with coherent materials and colors to establish an identity in keeping with the local area. Around the plot, terracotta paving in light and warm local tones intrinsically harks back to the region's built landscape, [and] for the alleyways, metal cladding in powder-coated steel in the same hues brings light between the buildings."
