The Microsoft Ocean Plastic Mouse is the tech company's latest eco-oriented innovation. The company's commitment to the environment is showcased through its new eco-design. The Ocean Plastic Mouse was conceived to reuse plastic detritus collected from the ocean.
Discarded plastic was transformed into a point and click peripheral. After much design deliberation, the Microsoft team created a scalable method for converting gathered plastic bottles, caps, packaging, and other plastic pollutant products in the ocean into raw polymer resin pellets. The team broke down the material to form the external shell of its new eco-friendly mouse. Ocean plastic is ideal for this type of product construction as it typically exhibits signs of molecular degradation caused by moisture, salt, heat, and ultraviolet light exposure.
