Growing Concerns Over eBike Saftey Led to the Design of the Met Grancorso

The Met Grancorso is a new purpose-built helmet that was designed to meet the growing safety needs of ebike riders. As ebikes grow in popularity, it is becoming more evident that the current range of helmets fails to protect against the new speeds. With speeds that rival mopeds, the current range of head protection seems to be lacking, but the Met Grancorso is hoping to actually protect riders with new specifications and safety features.

Designed to meet the new EU NTA 8776 safety standard, which calls for bike helmets to be sturdier and more protective or ebike riders, this new helmet features improved coverage for the back of the head and temples. These areas of focus save riders from typical points of danger, as well as the most damaging points to the brain. The chinstrap to the helmet features a magnetic clasp, and a full-wrap shell offers up comfort and a sleek design. Optional add-ons include LED lights and a magnetic eye shield. Despite the extra protection, the Met Grancorso weighs just 11.2 ounces.
