This gorgeous mandala art by Jay Mohler takes inspiration from the Huichol natives of Mexico using yarn. Known as the "Ojos de Dios," or the "God's Eyes," these mandalas are designed to ward off evil.
Although these creations might seem like they are too intricate to attempt crafting on your own, one of the surprising things about Mohler's art is that it can easily be created from a few simple sticks. As part of a How-To feature on Etsy's blog, Mohler recently teamed up with photographer Emily Munn in order to share how he creates these yarn sculptures. Most of the process involves a lot of patience, wrapping and careful placement of yarn, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be off to the races making whatever patterns you can come up with.
