Sculptural Knitted Objects

Iben Høj Designs the Sh(r)ine Series for Dezeen x the Mindcraft Project

A series of sculptural knitted objects were created by textile artist Iben Høj and presented as part of the Dezeen x The Mindcraft project 2022. Titled Sh(r)ine, the collection of three-dimensional objects explore material, form, function, and aesthetic.

Iben Høj used a mix of natural and synthetic fibers, as well as "a combination of handcrafted and machine techniques" for the sculptural knitted objects. In doing so, the designer already creates a strong contrast between two material dichotomies and the ways in which we choose to process materials. The shifting of colour was also a big design choice for the artist.

The sculptural pieces also take on the shape of containers as Iben Høj wanted to "explore the functional ability of the container to hold objects."
