Camarim Arquitectos added a marble-lined steam room into the attic extension of a Lisbon apartment.
The space that the steam room now occupies was formerly a separate apartment, also belonging to the client. Originally, the space contained a living room and balcony underneath the sloping ceiling. The renovated apartment is intended to be a "self-contained living unit" that comes equipped with a kitchen and living space, along with the steam room.
The architects installed glass doors that connect the living room and balcony, in order to encourage the flow of natural light. They also added a skylight to the roof. The spaces in the apartment are separated by a series of translucent curtains that further diffuse light throughout.
