Jersey Gardens Mall has plans to construct the largest single-roof solar system in North America. The ambitious project will produce 4.8 megawatts of power, which is about 11% of the mall’s 1.3 million-square-feet power consumption.
SunPower Corporation will design, install, and maintain the massive Jersey Gardens Mall solar power system. The project is expected to be online in August 2011, but rumor has it that another, even larger New Jersey rooftop solar system is also in the works.
