Global food demand is expected to increase dramatically in the coming decades which will be difficult for the existing agriculture system to support, so the 'Jellyfish Barge' has been designed as a solution to this important problem. The floating greenhouse is designed for use in coastal communities and would allow farmers to raise crops on the water instead of requiring ample land to do so. The system would utilize the water it floats on to sustain the plants thanks to a solar-powered purification system to desalinate water or remove impurities.
The 'Jellyfish Barge' has an octagonal structure that floats using 96 recycled plastic drums in order to support the wooden and glass upper section for an overall more efficient structural design.
