Your Greenhouse is Your Kitchen Transforms into a Community Space

— November 3, 2025 — Art & Design
Your Greenhouse Is Your Kitchen transforms into a community gathering space, reimagining the greenhouse as a social hub for food, culture, and ecology. Designed by Office for Roundtable and JXY Studio in Guangzhou, the modular pavilion unfolds through a lightweight steel frame and translucent polycarbonate panels. When closed, it functions as a self-contained greenhouse for growing vegetables and herbs. When opened, the hinged panels lift to create a shaded kitchen and dining space that connects seamlessly with the surrounding garden.

The design promotes sustainability and shared experience through flexibility and resource use. Rainwater collection and natural ventilation support year-round usability, while movable racks and tables adapt to changing activities. By merging architecture, ecology, and everyday life, Your Greenhouse Is Your Kitchen demonstrates how small urban spaces can nurture both community and environment.
