Ivanka Studio and Concrete Works Crafts Clothing Out of Cement

You probably don't think concrete is a very fashionable material, but let the designers at Ivanka Studio and Concrete Works convince you otherwise. This innovative design company, founded by Katalin and Andras Ivanka, uses cement to create everyday objects, such as fashion accessories and clothing.

The Budapest-based Ivanka Studio and Concrete Works has created a collection of clothing, including a shirt, a pair of pants and a dress, out of cement. The firm uses a special technique that renders the concrete lightweight; therefore, the clothes can actually be worn.

In addition to the line of clutches, Ivanka Studio has created a line of concrete jewelry with architect intern Anna Szabo. The line consists of charms modeled after vital organs, such as the liver, heart and stomach, and they can be attached to a magnet to stick to things like chains and belt buckles.
