The new Instagram tag is seeking to strengthen its relationship with the community that uses it by enhancing transparency on the site.

The social media giant has become a useful tool for influencers that partner with companies to sponsor content that reaches their followers. While this is a good opportunity for those with an extensive following on the site, those who read the content are not always aware of the fact that these social media celebrities were paid for their posts. The new 'Paid partership' Instagram tag will soon be featured on some of the sponsored content on the social media site, ensuring that influencers, businesses and Instagram itself is able to be more transparent about sponsored content.

The influencers and businesses that choose to use the tool are able to benefit by having access to insights from the content, allowing them to furth understanding "how followers are engaging" with the content.
