First released throughout Japan, Instagram QR codes are now rolling out world wide, offering individuals and small businesses the unique opportunity to draw more potential followers to their pages.
Instagram has already dabbled in this feature, releasing a similar idea under the name of 'Nametags.' However, Instagram Nametags could only be accessed through the social media-embedded camera. These QR codes differ as they allow one's smart phone to capture an image that then redirects them to new page, offering new opportunities for social media marketing and engagement.
Originally launched last year for businesses, this feature is now available to all. To access it users can go to their account settings, and then tap on 'the 'QR Code' option.
