Spotify is now testing in-app ads that are currently in the alpha phase of testing in the United States and Germany. The in-app ads are being tested with products from Harry’s on ‘Last Podcast on the Left,’ and HelloFresh products on the show ‘Herrengedeck.’
Joel Withrow, the senior product manager of Podcast Monetization for Spotify, spoke about the decision to add in-app ads, “In-App Offers makes it vastly simpler for listeners to redeem deals whenever they come back to the app, and we can all benefit from one fewer ‘w-w-w-dot’ spelling lesson from our favorite podcast creators.”
The audio platform previously revealed Streaming Ad Insertion technology at CES, which will provide advertisers with more detailed data. So it is clear that Spotify views podcast ads as an important part of the future of the platform.
