Kid President's Child Hunger Campaign Wants to Start a Conversation
Alyson Wyers — June 10, 2015 — Social Good
Hosted by the ever adorable and equally inspirational Kid President, this hunger campaign is a first. Today (Wednesday, June 10th) at 4pm EST (1pm PST), the Kid President Tell-A-Thon has a goal of ending food insecurity for children in the United States. The online campaign involves telling people (therefore raising awareness) of how the number of hungry kids sky rockets during the summer months, when they no longer have access to in-school programming, free and reduced-cost meals.
The YouTube live stream event hopes 22 million people will join the conversation -- the same number that receive these meals during the school year. 80% of that number don't know where their next meal is coming from once school is out.
The child hunger campaign is possible due to a partnership with ConAgra Foods and the ConAgra Foods Foundation.
