The residential project 'A House in the Andes' by Correa+Fatehi | ODD represents a thoughtful exploration of architectural integration with Ecuador's highland landscape. An innovative use of local materials and terrain-responsive design are central to this project.

Situated near Quito, 'A House in the Andes' emerges as an earthen monolith that was constructed from site-excavated soil transformed into rammed earth walls and custom adobe bricks. The design organizes living spaces across three levels that are connected by a mobile platform. This layout approach enables functional flexibility. Strategically placed openings and an interior/exterior water feature, on the other hand, blur boundaries between constructed space and natural surroundings.

The architects' approach references traditional Andean pathways. The firm implemented contemporary environmental strategies through the building's breathable facade system that naturally regulates light and temperature. This synthesis of vernacular building techniques with modern spatial concepts results in a dwelling that appears both ancient and innovative.
