In honor of the changing of seasons from winter to spring the Japanese celebrate the customary Setsubun day with sushi eating, and this gigantic Homaguro roll takes the tradition to opulent levels with edible gold. The sushi roll is large in size, filled with high-quality ingredients and accompanied with a price tag of $200 a piece.
The Tobu Ikebukuro Department Store has put together a collection of luxe sushi rolls in honor of Stetsubun using high-quality ingredients as well as a few unconventional ones. This Oma Honmaguro Roll is filled with fresh fish caught off of Japan's most northern main island tip, a fresh green shiso leaf and edible golden leaf flecks topping off the seaweed-rolled rice dish. There are only 10 rolls made per year due to the exclusivity of the ingredients.
