Nestled in the core of East Hollywood is the new Hollyhock House, right on top of Barnsdall Art Park. It is a structure which represents one of the most notable architectural works of Frank Lloyd Wright. The home was commissioned by oil heiress Aline Barnsdall in 1918 and then completed in 1921.
The home is now under attention as its future now remains uncertain. The Hollyhock House is one of the first commission works in Los Angeles and it had marked a notable moment in his career. The structure is the perfect embodiment of his evolving philosophy of design. It embodies the 'California Romanza' style which integrates some elements of pre-Columbian Mexican architecture influences, Mediterranean influences, and Asian themes.
