The clients who commissioned Steven Holl Architects to create their Hudson L-House has an extensive design collection. It even features the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright light fixture all the way from 1910. The home is defined by plywood interiors and elevated bright accents. Nestled in Hudson, New York, it is named after its L-shaped design and clad with thin custom aluminum paneling.
The founder of the firm, Steven Holl and partner Dimitra Tsachrelia speaks more about the design and its influence, "It offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the horizontal wood siding typical of Hudson's traditional homes. Rather than mimic historic forms, the house abstracts elements like dormers, gables, and porches – preserving their spatial rhythm while expressing them through a modern material palette and detail language.
