Beirut's Hayek Hospital Has Committed to an All-Vegan Menu

Hayek Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon, has announced that it will only be serving vegan food as it supports the idea that meat and other animal-based food products can contribute to a variety of different health concerns.

The team at the hospital publicly announced the move in a post on its Instagram account, stating "Our patients will no longer wake up from surgery to be greeted with ham, cheese, milk, and eggs…the very food that may have contributed to their health problems in the first place.”

The complete shift to all-vegan food offerings comes one year after the hospital first announced it would be promoting vegan dishes across its menu, during which time it also shared more information with its patients on the benefits of switching to a plant-based diet.
