The Hanwha Eagles, a South Korean baseball team who are famed for losing consistently, will now be cheered on by robotic fans who will replace their dejected flesh-and-blood counterparts.
Supporters of the underachieving team -- who may prefer to do more valuable things with their time than go to games only to see their team lose -- can now deliver video messages via social media. Their faces will then be displayed on the robots' LED screens.
The Hanwha Eagles have won the South Korean baseball championship only one time in their entire history, and as a result are often referred to as the Hanwha Chickens. No word on whether this latest venture will result in their being called the Hanwha Robot Chickens.
