Glickenhaus, the New York-based automotive manufacturer, created the Glickenhaus 004 supercar, which includes a number of unique features. The most notable quality of the 004, aside from its performance, is its safety. The 004 passed a comprehensive side-impact crash test at a speed of 32 mph without requiring an airbag. The crash test dummy remained seated safely in the driver's seat while the surrounding vehicle was damaged severely.
The safety of the driver is achieved in part by the orientation of the seats within the vehicle. The driver sits in the front center seat while the passengers sit in the left and right sides of the driver. In addition to this, the frame of the vehicle uses an abundance of carbon fiber for its lightweight nature and high structural integrity.
In terms of performance specifications, the 004 is available in three separate models that achieve 520, 650, and 750 horsepower, respectively. These models retail for $483,000 USD, $627,000 USD, and $707,000 USD.
