The Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative (OBRC) introduced a glass beer bottle that has the potential to be reused after its contents are consumed. This process can be repeated up to 25 times which makes for a significantly reduced carbon footprint and an alternative to recycling aluminum cans or glass bottles.
Due to the fact that washing out a bottle simply requires less energy than heating an oven to create new bottles, the reusable glass beer bottle design is being heralded as a great economic and environmental innovation.
ORBC sets out to create an industry-standard bottle, as well as a vessel that can be identified by members of the public as one that's fit for reuse.
