At its headquarters in Hangzhou, China, Alibaba opened an all-new staffless store by the name of 'Futuremart.'
The high-tech store is stocked with a variety of merchandise from Alibaba and requires that consumers check in by having their face read and scanning a QR code with their Alipay, Taobao or Tmall app. From there, consumers may enter the store, browse freely and pick up any items they wish to take home. When it comes time to leave, consumers may simply leave the store for a streamlined experience.
Inside Futuremart, Alibaba offers a 'Happy Go' facial recognition station that boasts the ability to scan the faces of consumers and provide discounts for those who flash a brilliant smile.
