Artist Vanessa McKeown recently recreated various popular fruit items using colorful balloons in her series entitled 'Fruloons & Vegaloons.' The playful art series captures the fine line between edible ingredients and everyday items.
The 'Fruloons & Vegaloons' series is filled with various fruits and vegetables that have been recreated using colorful pink, purple and yellow balloons in a variety of sizes. McKeown replaces the flesh of the product with the balloons replicating the size and shape with synthetic material to create deceivingly edible-looking foods. At closer inspection, the viewer can see that the cherry tomatoes, the flesh of the coconut and even the grapes are actually tiny inflated balls of plastic. The series calls attention to how quickly we overlook our food asking us to perhaps acknowledge what our foods are truly made of. Photo Credits: designboom, vanessamckeown
