The Super Bowl is consistently the most viewed television program in the world, and the Fox Sports VR replays for Super Bowl LI have the potential to spread those numbers beyond just TV. A sign of the state of entertainment today, Fox Sports has announced that it will supplement its TV broadcast with virtual reality highlights in real time.
The Fox Sports VR replays will be curated by LiveLike VR, a virtual reality production company. In total, the company will show 20 highlights over the course of the big game: four for each quarter, with another four ready for pre- and post-game presentations.
The VR footage will be captured through six 4K cameras located around NRG Stadium in Houston. Consumers with a VR headset will be able to toggle through these camera angles by using the free Fox Sports VR app.
