The 'Shell House' Combines the Luxury of a Villa with High Security Features

The 'Shell House' is a fortress home designed by Lenz Architects that was built to maintain a high level of luxury in combination with security features that keep its inhabitants safe in nearly any circumstance.

The house is located in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where it is isolated by a sprawling landscape of trees. The house gets its name from its exterior appearance, which shows a dome-like roof that extends over the home on different levels. At the front of this fortress home is a large outdoor pool that works into the concrete ground which surrounds it. Large mirrors reveals part of the home's interior, showing a comfortably sized kitchen and a spiral staircase that leads to the second storey. The thermal-protected aluminum panels that encase the home can be brought up to block doors and windows in case of an emergency -- offering both protection and sound proofing.
