While others are using enormous lettuce factories for sustainable agriculture purposes, this farm is feeding fly larvae food waste and then using that larvae as animal feed. Located in Atlanta, Grubbly Farms delivers pet chicken treats that are made in the USA.
Grubblies are not just locally grown and environmentally friendly, they are a natural protein product chickens will enjoy eating. The dried black soldier fly larvae were raised on pre-consumer food waste that hasn't been in a landfill, which is where the eco element comes in. This method diverts waste that would be headed towards landfills, thus preventing the decomposition process and eliminating methane (a potent greenhouse gas) that would otherwise go into the atmosphere.
