Agility's Digit 5 Pairs AI Oversight with FORT's Kill Switch

Agility Robotics is expanding 'Digit 5's' safety setup so the humanoid can work near people without a cage. The system pairs Agility's AI-based cooperative safety approach with FORT Robotics' independent protection layer, designed for robot fleets rather than a single machine.

One piece is a physical pendant that allows a nearby manager to stop the robot in an emergency or keep it running only while the button is pressed. Another is the Offboard Safety Bridge, which connects Digit 5's safety logic to conditions outside the robot. Together, these additions help the machine respond to both onboard signals and the surrounding workspace.

For buyers, this means humanoid robots can move from pilot use toward denser deployments with fewer safety gaps to explain. That matters in warehouses and other shared spaces, where approval often hinges on how confidently teams can address risk and liability questions.

Layered Robot Safety
Independent protection systems paired with onboard intelligence create room for more trusted humanoid deployments in shared workspaces.
Fleet-level Oversight
Centralized safety bridges give operators a clearer path to managing many robots under consistent risk controls.
Human-robot Workzones
Cageless automation in warehouses and facilities signals new potential for collaborative layouts that blend human judgment with robotic labor.

Sectors Adopting This

Warehouse Automation
Robust emergency-stop and workspace-aware systems strengthen the case for scaling humanoid robots across high-density logistics environments.
Industrial Robotics
Fleet-ready safety architectures reshape how manufacturers evaluate liability, compliance, and operational continuity for mobile machines.
Workplace Safety Technology
Physical controls and offboard monitoring expand the market for protective infrastructure built around mixed human-machine operations.
