Intuition-Inspired Robot Safety Technologies

Algorized & KUKA Debuts the Predictive Safety Engine

The collaboration between Algorized and KUKA, which is making its debut at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, introduces a technological framework aimed at transforming operational safety in industrial robotics — the Predictive Safety Engine.

The system, which is marketed as producing the "first tobot with 'intuition,'" utilizes edge artificial intelligence and millimeter-wave radar sensing to interpret human presence and activity within a shared workspace. Unlike conventional safety mechanisms that depend on physical barriers or optical sensors, the Predictive Safety Engine approach processes wireless signals to perceive physiological cues such as respiration and heart rate, distinguish between different entities, and forecast movement patterns. Algorized and KUKA maintain that their innovation can function in visually obstructive conditions like poor lighting, smoke, or when a person is partially hidden, as it does not rely on traditional camera-based vision.
