Capturing the people who are passionate about their craft and the things they sell at the flea market, Paris-based photographer Andrew Kovalev photographs the sellers of the city’s Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen market for his ‘Les Visages des Puces’ series.
Located in a Paris Suburb, the Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen flea market is one of the oldest and biggest in the world and it is rumored that the actually expression “flea market” originated from here.
For the series, Kovalev wanted to authentically document the feel and spirit of the place to highlight its diversity and eccentricity. He does so by portraying the people working at the market, who are such an intricate and vital part of the soul of the market and what it offers.
