American department store Bloomingdale’s recently upped their interactive retail game with smart fitting rooms that feature an in-house iPad for each consumer. The mounted devices are able to enhance a customer's shopping experience by connecting one directly to Bloomingdale's staff and the retailer's inventory-management system.
With a simple tap of a touchscreen, Bloomingdale's shoppers can check stock inventories for size and color or can seek the help of a sales associate that will respond to their request in seconds.
This Bloomingdale's smart fitting room concept is not the first of its kind but is unique in its integrated tech. As consumers grow more independent, putting them in the driver's seat of their purchases will often enhance their shopping experience while ultimately encouraging them to spend more.
