Epson's FastFoto FF-640 does one thing, photo scanning, but it does that really well. Photo scanning isn't the the most attention-grabbing technological feature in most consumers' arsenal of gadgets, but when it comes time to digitally archive stacks of old family photos, a flatbed scanner can't compete with the FastFoto FF-640.
Epson calls the FastFoto FF-640 the world's fastest photo scanner, and with speeds of nearly one photo per second and up to 30 photos in a single pass, that title is likely honest. Beyond raw speed, Epson's scanner is delicate as well, with an image cover that comes with the device to protect fragile photographs while they run through it. Further, the FastFoto FF-640 comes with software to automatically remove red-eye, restore faded images, and correct colors.
