Michael Craig-Martin is a conceptual Irish artist who specializes in producing everyday object sculptures and drawings. Through minimalism and a large-scale realization of designs, the creative is able to challenge the audience's perception of seemingly mundane things. A big focus of the activation is placed on "the relationship between objects and images."
The artist's latest installation is housed at the Gagosian gallery in London, UK. Featured are a number of sculptures that embrace a minimalist aesthetic on a larger scale. For his artworks, Michael Craig-Martin utilized powder coated steel, creating outlines of things like pens, knives, beach balls, headphones, safety pins and so on. The everyday object sculptures also boast a monochromatic exterior that adds a strong quality to them. Their linear, two-dimentional-like aesthetic also provides a unique visual characteristic.
