Future-proofing classic cars often means replacing analog displays with digital ones, but Aston Martin is releasing its EV cassette to offer a zero-emissions upgrade to iconic automobiles. The EV cassette is essentially a lithium-ion battery pack that attaches to the body via the engine and transmission mounts, this means there is no cutting or welding involved under the sheet metal. In terms of function, the device zaps the electric motor through wires, just like a modern-day electric car. The upgrade will also feature an integrated screen to the interior to give the driver insight into the power management of the device.
Aston Martin also revealed that the EV cassette upgrade is fully reversible, so owners can easily change their cars back to the original configuration at any time. The conversion, both to electric and back to gas will have to be done by Aston Martin, so owners will have to ship their vehicles to the company's headquarters.
