When one is terminally ill, it can be difficult to discuss emotions and decisions with vulnerable family members, which is why a team of doctors and scientists designed the 'End-of-life chatbot' -- a conversational bot that ensures patients are fully informed and prepared when making difficult decisions.

Unlike other bots, this one does not function autonomously, instead, it provides the patient with pre-written prompts and cues which can then be relayed back to the family members. This method ensures that patients are thinking of what is best for oneself, without the biases of other family members, which could influence the patient to alter answers to avoid upsetting loved ones. Available through a tablet, this bot was designed to ensure terminally ill patients are making personal and informed decisions.
