The layout of a home can really encourage creativity when it comes to permanent focus points within each space; enter the 'Emmental Stairs.' This staircase design is perfect for those houses that have stairs plopped right in the middle of the room, or stairs that simply become part of the overall aesthetic rather than hidden away somewhere.

Designed by Biljana Jovanovic, a Croatian architect based in Budapest, Hungary, the Emmental Stairs boast a playful look that is particularly perfect for family homes. With a crater-like encasement that creates walls of art while letting natural light to seep through, the stairs themselves look haphazardly placed to create a dynamic experience. The motif of circles throughout the Emmental Stairs was inspired by a huge old window in the apartment.
