California native and artist Edwin Ushiro is a talented and evocative painter and this series of his work is beautiful and captivating. These pictures are all focused on youthful subjects going about their everyday lives like riding bikes, climbing trees and there are a few images of swimming and water as well. The water makes everything wispy and Ushiro is remarkably talented at showing the water’s reflection as a group of swimmers float around and play together and another loan figure skinny dips by herself.
Edwin Ushiro also has a few more somber prints. Subjects who linger in forlorn looking places such as a girl on a broken down car, a lone cat in the shadows, etc. These paintings reflect the different dimensions of American youth -- the leisure and carefree attitude as well as the isolation.
