Drone-Capturing Eagles

Dutch Police are Using Eagles as a Way to Thwart Unauthorized Drones

The advent of drone technology has increased a need for more security against the flying robots, so Dutch police are training eagles to catch drones straight out of the sky. Working with a company entitled 'Guard from Above' to train the eagles, the initiative looks to harness the hunting power of eagles to keep citizens safe.

The eagle training has entailed having the birds capturing the drones, retrieving them to the handlers and then being given a treat (the eagles oftentimes try to eat the drones).

As drone technology becomes more pervasive and many worry about the safety implications created as a result, this initiative by Dutch police is something we'll likely see more of in the near future.
