Temporary gold leaf tattoos have come into fashion at events like music festivals over the past few years, and the DuoLink tattoo system is taking that style in a technological direction. Developed in partnership with MIT Media Lab and Microsoft Research, the DuoLink tattoos look just like flash tattoos but double as functional, device-connected touchscreens.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the DuoSkin tattoo system is its easy application. The system doesn't require professional scientific equipment. In fact, according to an upcoming paper from the development team, anyone could shape the wearable circuits using graphic design software, tattoo paper, vinyl and gold leaf (or any other decorative material used on flash tattoos.)
Beyond touchscreens, the DuoSkin tattoos could be embedded with buttons, LEDs or RFID chips.
