Dirk Skreber is a German artist who has purposefully crashed two cars for his latest gallery showing. Skreber has wrapped both a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and a Hyundai Tiburon around a pole, in an attempt to frame car crashes in a different light.
Normally, these images of cars wrapped around poles and badly mangled would be associated with tragedy. Skreber has taken all bad feelings out of the equation by presenting these two wrecks completely polished up and in an unusual setting -- the Saatchi Gallery in London. The wrecks themselves were created at a special vehicle-testing facility in Ohio. Removing the wrecks from the road lets you truly appreciate how awe-inspiring a wrecked car is without all of the negative feelings associated with it.
