Most businesses know that the more active and healthy their employees are, the less costs they will incur from absenteeism and health-related issues. To encourage this, Philips has designed a device called the DirectLife fitness monitor, which is a wearable motion tracker much like the Fitbit.
In addition to monitoring a person’s daily activity to encourage a more active lifestyle, the DirectLife fitness monitor also offers the services of a personal coach (while the Fitbit does not). Delivered on a subscription basis, the Directlife personal coach will interact with users through an online portal.
Essentially, the DirectLife fitness monitor empowers employees to take their health into their own hands while helping businesses track employee fitness—without having to get too involved in the employee’s personal life.
