Magma Stone-Toasted Spirits

The Latest Dewar’s Double Double Scotch is Finished in Oak Casks

Dewar’s Double Double Scotch has been announced by the Bacardi-owned brand as its latest expression that's crafted with experimentalist attributes in the spotlight to work well for adventurist drinkers alike. The spirit has underdone an experimental toasting method that utilizes a rotating metal cylinder inside the cask to slowly toast the exterior surface of the barrel and open its pores. The heat used for the process comes from Icelandic magma rock to give it a bit more intrigue than traditional fire roasting methods.

Master Blender Stephanie Macleod commented on the Dewar’s Double Double Scotch saying, "Our motivation is always to aspire to make ever greater whisky. Curiosity and experimentation allow us to respond to the present and future desires of whisky lovers, and the Magma Stone Toasted expression embodies this philosophy, as we believe we are the first whisky to use this technique."
