The Daymak Drive System Uses the Sun to Charge Your E-Bike
Rahul Kalvapalle — September 17, 2014 — Autos
The Daymak Drive System is a sun-powered e-bike conversion kit. The system can be installed on existing bicycles in only 5 minutes.
The key component of the Daymak Drive System is a wheel fitted with a 250-watt motor and a 36-volt lithium-polymer battery. Both these elements are located in the hub and replaces conventional bicycles' rear wheels. The hub is also equipped with a number of solar panels protected by a clear plastic covering.
As long as the bike is out in daylight -- whether parked or in motion -- the panels will provide continuous juice to the battery.
The Daymak Drive System will available in 2015 in 26-inch and 28-inch wheel size options that can be set up for either disc brakes or V-pull brakes. Pricing will begin at $699. A dedicated Daymak Drive System bicycle is also in the offing.
